Position Overview
Extension Agent, Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) – assistant, associate, or full level – provides leadership for development, implementation, evaluation, and marketing of educational programs in FCS areas (foods, nutrition, health, family financial management) in Nash County.
Responsibilities
- Plan, market, conduct, and evaluate educational programs for adults and youth in FCS.
- Develop and implement research‑based outreach and volunteer programs (e.g., Master Foods Volunteer Program).
- Collaborate with other Extension agents and community agencies on joint initiatives.
- Create and deliver educational resources, presentations, and online content.
- Seek and manage grants, donations, and other external resources.
- Track program outcomes and prepare reports for stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences, nutrition, or related field (GPA 2.5 overall, 3.0 in major).
- Master’s degree acceptable if completed, or coursework toward a master’s.
- Relevant experience in educational or outreach programming, including face‑to‑face or online delivery.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Food safety certification (ServSafe or Safe Plates) desirable.
- Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
