NC Associates are working with a specialist international law firm who are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their finance team based in Shrewsbury. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 12 months' experience within a legal finance environment who is looking to further develop their career. Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider Accounts Team, you will support the day-to-day financial operations of a growing international firm with offices in London, Milan, and Singapore.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of legal accounting procedures and Solicitors Accounts Rules, alongside strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to their work.
Key Responsibilities:- Processing client and office account receipts and payments
- Supporting client-to-office and office-to-client account transfers
- Preparing supplier, employee, and other business payments
- Producing aged payable reports and reconciling supplier accounts
- Monitoring and reporting on aged work in progress (WIP) balances
- Processing petty cash transactions and reconciliations
- Supporting the wider finance team with day-to-day accounting activities
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal procedures
- Minimum 12 months' experience within a law firm or legal finance environment
- Understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs)
- Knowledge of legal accounting processes including client and office accounts
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
- Ability to manage workload independently and prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with accounting systems would be advantageous, particularly Xero or legal practice management software
- Organised and motivated to learn
- Professional and discreet when handling sensitive information
