NC Associates are working in partnership with a growing and innovative business based in Knutsford to recruit a Management Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity for a recently qualified accountant looking to step into a broad, standalone finance role where they will have genuine ownership of the finance function while working closely with the Board and Finance Director.

This position offers excellent exposure across all areas of finance and would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced SME environment where they can make a visible impact on the business.

Management Accountant Responsibilities

• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of the finance function

• Producing weekly and monthly management accounts, providing meaningful financial reporting to senior leadership

• Generating sales invoices from timesheets and overseeing the sales ledger

• Managing the purchase ledger, supplier payments, and weekly payment runs

• Preparing bank reconciliations, journals, accruals, and prepayments

• Monitoring company cashflow and producing regular cashflow forecasts

• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes

• Preparing VAT returns and liaising with external accountants regarding statutory reporting and year-end accounts

• Processing payroll payments and employee expenses

• Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations

• Maintaining and improving financial controls, systems, and reporting processes

• Providing financial analysis and commercial insight to support business decision-making

• Supporting the Board of Directors with ad-hoc financial reporting and business projects

Management Accountant Experience Required

To be successful in your application, you should have the following experience:

Essential:

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified

• Previous experience within a Management Accountant or similar finance role

• Strong month-end reporting and management accounts experience

• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a standalone finance function

• Excellent Excel and IT skills

• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail

• Professional, proactive, and commercially minded approach

Desirable:

• Experience using Xero and Dext Prepare

• Previous experience within an SME environment

• Experience with cashflow forecasting and business partnering

• Interest or experience within engineering, infrastructure, or energy sectors
