Finance Assistant Overview

NC Associates are working with a successful and well-established business who are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their finance team at their Denbigh Head Office.

This is a varied, hands-on position supporting the day-to-day finance function across the wider group. You will be involved in processing receipts and payments, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with ledger activity and dealing with finance-related queries.

The role would suit someone with previous accounts or finance administration experience who enjoys working with numbers, keeping things organised and making sure tasks are completed accurately and on time.

You will also provide some general administrative support to the wider business, making this a varied opportunity rather than a role focused on one area of finance. Full training will be provided, with support from an experienced finance team.

Finance Assistant Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate sales ledger records and assist with customer account queries.
  • Assist with supplier payment runs, ensuring invoices and relevant approvals are in place.
  • Process and accurately allocate daily customer receipts and banking transactions.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and supporting financial documentation.
  • Support regular Direct Debit collections, investigating failed or unidentified payments where required.
  • Complete general administration tasks including data entry, updating records and chasing outstanding information.
  • Assist with purchase ledger processing and other day-to-day finance duties.
  • Deal with queries from customers, suppliers and internal colleagues.
  • Handle card payments and ensure transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Follow up outstanding company credit-card receipts and supporting documentation.
  • Process customer refunds in line with internal approval procedures.
  • Support the wider finance team with additional tasks as required.
  • Look for practical ways to improve everyday finance and administration processes.

Finance Assistant Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within an accounts, finance or finance administration role.
  • Good numerical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records.
  • Comfortable using Excel, email and computer-based systems.
  • Organised with the ability to manage regular workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and confidence dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • A professional and confidential approach when handling financial information.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and develop within the role.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Sage 50 or Sage 200.
  • Knowledge of online banking, sales ledger or Direct Debit processes.
  • Experience processing card payments or customer refunds.
  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT.
  • Previous experience working across multiple companies or within a busy finance department.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome all applicants of identity, personal characteristics, or background.
