Leads Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) across park construction, projects, and operations, ensuring compliance and all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation. Provides expert technical guidance to Project Managers, Programme Managers, and contractors, and oversees governance processes to ensure safe and compliant project delivery. Represents UDX in fulfilling client duties, partnering with third parties to maintain high HS&E standards, including oversight of guest and Team Member safety across operational environments, with continued leadership, support, and oversight of HS&E programs following park opening. Acts as the in-house expert to drive global HS&E strategy, collaboration, and performance, while leading initiatives, standards, and operational expectations. Accountable for key HS&E functions including design risk management, incident reporting and investigation, fire prevention, permitting, communications, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, including oversight across guest safety, fleet and watercraft, drones, production, training and emergency response.

Develops, implements, and aligns HS&E policies and procedures across all project work packages and operational environments, ensuring full compliance, building regulations, and client duties, while supporting Project Managers and contractors in meeting regulatory expectations and occupational HS&E requirements.

Facilitates effective HS&E communication and global collaboration, ensuring alignment across HS&E functions, sharing best practices, identifying emerging risks, and overseeing the review and approval of contractor construction phase plans, while ensuring a seamless transition and sustained HS&E performance and oversight into post‑opening park operations.

Leads and drives construction and operational site HS&E standards by setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, validating the effectiveness and sustainability of controls, and holding contractors and partners accountable for both interim mitigations and long‑term solutions.

Oversees site compliance through regular inspections, audits and evaluations, ensuring welfare provisions meet current regulations and standards, and managing operational HS&E processes including hazard identification, risk assessment, training, emergency response, document control and record‑keeping.

Provides expert technical HS&E guidance while leading internal team performance, including hiring, development and alignment of HS&E teams, and driving Team Member engagement through clear communication strategies, active participation and strong business partnerships. Leads HS&E strategy, performance and continuous improvement initiatives by analysing incident trends, overseeing investigations and regulatory reporting (including RIDDOR where applicable), implementing corrective and preventive actions and delivering regular/monthly performance.

Supports financial and strategic objectives by driving HS&E initiatives, enabling long‑term operational improvements, and fostering leadership commitment and engagement with HS&E programs.

Understand and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in HS&E element, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred. Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Management, or a related discipline strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK HS&E regulations, with experience applying them across construction and operational environments, including ISO (or equivalent) safety and risk management systems.
  • Strong leadership capability with proven experience in strategic planning, goal setting and influencing HS&E teams and business leaders to drive performance improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, timely decisions in fast‑paced, complex environments, using practical judgement, operational knowledge and a pragmatic approach to regulatory application.
  • Hands‑on experience across construction and operational settings, including inspections, investigations, risk assessments, training, regulatory engagement, reporting and record‑keeping.
