OVERVIEW

The Sales Manager takes a broad responsibility across the sales team to identify and shape optimal release strategies for each title, whilst continuing to maximise negotiations with their own assigned clients for theatrical releases distributed by Universal Pictures UK & Eire. They are involved in commercial forecasting, slate management and BO reporting to the wider Universal team. The role reports into the UK Theatrical Sales Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Nurture long‑lasting and robust trading relationships with own clients whilst cultivating relations across wider exhibition and film business too.
  • Provide proactive support to Senior Sales Manager and Sales Director in running adhoc commercial analysis.
  • Ongoing appraisal of film performance within context of wider market and weekly review of slate ambition with MD & Finance team.
  • Feed into slate assessment and positioning conversations when required for potential pick‑ups or for earlycut material.
  • Territory level reporting for Head Office inc. new release reports and bi‑annual market overviews.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of key market developments, technologies and industry issues; stay abreast of competitor initiatives and market & customer trends.
  • Manage junior Sales role in team; support their annual PDP and growth within wider NBCU business. Help set sales targets and support them in delivering against these.
  • Liaise with Finance team in Box Office and payment queries relating to the sales team.
  • Manage term assignments and billing requests in absence of Senior Sales Manager.
  • Act as Sales Lead on select Universal releases, liaising with wider UK Theatrical team and cascading key release information back to Sales Team.
  • Presenting Universal slate at Industry events as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A flair for sales and the desire to pursue a sales career.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, efficient and organised.
  • Proven record of accurate commercial forecasting of films on release.
  • Capable of hands on problem‑solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions.
  • The ability to create strong client relationships that can survive the rigours of weekly negotiations.
  • Good communications skills both written and oral.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work within a team.
  • Good attention to detail, coupled with accuracy and numeracy skills.
  • Enthusiasm and flexibility to cope with ever‑changing demands from one release to the next.
