The Product and Delivery team are responsible for successfully implementing new business opportunities or changes to existing services across our International Networks and HayU businesses. With responsibility across the Media Operations lifecycle from scheduling & playout to media ordering & fulfilment, the team are experts at delivering new services across the end-to-end workflow.
The team develop, support and deploy business systems and solutions used by several NBCU business units globally, including International Networks, HayU, Peacock and Sky Showtime.
Specifically, we require a Product Manager to join the team who will manage a portfolio of Products used by our International Networks and HayU business units, engage stakeholders, manage releases and prioritise internal and external customer requirements on the International Product Roadmap.
Responsibilities- Own the product management roadmap for part of the IMO product portfolio, ensuring stakeholders are regularly updated.
- Line management responsibilities for Product team members working across Product initiatives.
- Own vendor management and relationships for Products we licence to support our Linear, VOD and Ad-Sales operations.
- Own our data and metric reporting environment and liaise with Operations and our stakeholders on new reporting requirements.
- Collaborate alongside other Product and Delivery team members, contributing to project planning and estimation relating to new projects.
- Act as an advisor, SME and consultant to the Director, Product and the IMO leadership team on key decisions.
- Act as an SME on operational workflows within our organisation.
- Own the creation of Product deliverable and reliability metrics for your area, ensuring stakeholders are regularly updated.
- Regular, consistent liaison and partnering with internal customer groups.
- Plan and communicate release windows and cycles across multiple products, prioritising requirements to ensure a regular manageable delivery of value.
- Work with engineering and vendors to understand impacts of new features or fixes.
- Lead and co-ordinate the release activities for your portfolio.
- Work closely with colleagues in the US to understand the initiatives in that market and ensure international alignment.
- Assist in defining the vision and strategy for the IMO product portfolio.
- Ensure that best practice is always upkept for project / product documentation, including ensuring quality of information provided to external vendors and Software Engineering.
- Responsible for production and maintenance of documentation about our products and solutions that makes it easy for users and support to understand how they interact and troubleshoot.
- Provide system configuration in partnership with our Implementation Manager that meet project requirements and are well documented.
- Managing customer requirements and translating these into detailed specifications for engineering or external vendors.
- Ensure our stakeholders are updated and consulted on system changes or releases that impact them.
- Oversee and ensure effective prioritisation of all requested development work, working collaboratively with other Product and Delivery and Engineering team members to ensure business needs are met.
- Ensure that solutions are aligned with agreed technology strategy and architectural principles.
- Educate teams in International Media Operations and externally in the wider business on new products or features post project implementation.
- Act as 2nd line support for issues within your portfolio and ensure resolution.
- Provide effective liaison between technical and non-technical audiences, both internal to NBCU and 3rd parties.
- Some International travel may be required.
- Degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience desirable.
- Significant experience in vendor management related to software products.
- Significant experience in broadcast and media workflows, in particular Linear TV, VOD and Ad-Sales operations.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, quantitative and analytical skills.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a role exhibiting excellent written and oral communications, effective interpersonal skills and strong presentation abilities.
- Significant experience with release testing, including the creation and execution of test cases.
- Significant knowledge of broadcast media systems, such as channel, content, rights, asset and subscriber management systems, that support the content management lifecycle for linear tv, VOD and Ad-Sales operations.
- Be able to plan product roadmaps across a portfolio and be able to discuss with technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- Expertise in research, technical writing and development of user stories.
- Experience with broadcast and media metadata and associated visualisation frameworks, using technologies such as PowerBi or Tableau.
- Strong experience with stakeholder engagement.
- Able to see the big picture while at the same time have a keen eye for detail.
- Good knowledge of User Experience principles and experience with designing efficient user interfaces preferred.
- Experience with agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strategic thinker, able to envisage and deliver innovative end to end solutions to support business requirements in a large international media organisation.
- Experience working with business analytics teams, understanding business problems and translating them into technical solutions.
- Proactive with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, planning and time management skills.
- Clearly understand the business drivers behind each solution developed and also be able to articulate complex technology solutions in a manner understood by business stakeholders.
- Some experience with media asset management systems, encoding and transcoding systems, distribution systems and playout systems for digital media.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, building buy-in through written and verbal communication.
- High emotional intelligence, demonstrating self-awareness, self-control and ability to lead and inspire others.
- Proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and perform as part of a team to meet project objectives.
- Methodical, organised and have a hands-on approach.
- Self-motivated and able to work using your own initiative.
- Confidence to assess a situation and take action.
- Able to multi-task.
