Role Purpose: NBCUniversal is seeking an Intellectual Property Paralegal to join the Brands & Content Intellectual Property team, which supports the development of brands and the production of content for all NBCUniversal businesses globally. Working closely with the attorneys, the paralegals are highly respected team members that manage the Company's extensive worldwide trademark portfolio, including managing all trademark deadlines, driving trademark prosecution and enforcement lifecycles, and managing foreign and outside counsel.
Job Duties:
- File and prosecute UK trademark applications, and manage maintenance, renewals, and enforcement
- Manage worldwide trademark filing programs, including prosecution, maintenance, renewals, and enforcement
- Conduct and analyze clearances searches, including trademarks, titles, and editorial
- Research and gather evidence for enforcement matters and records
- Draft correspondence and documentation, including cease and desist letters, affidavits/declarations, agreements, powers of attorney, and chain-of-title documents
- Work closely with business groups on trademark prosecution and enforcement matters
- Collaborate with department to discuss issues and propose solutions to enhance practice
- Handle invoices, prepare reports and assist the department with other projects
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a paralegal, preferably in trademark or intellectual property
- Experience of managing trademark applications, prosecution maintenance and clearance searches
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- Experience with Anaqua or similar trademark docketing systems
- Experience with SAEGIS or similar trademark platforms
- Familiarity with domestic and foreign trademark practice and procedures
