The Production HR team partners closely with our International Film, TV, and Theatrical productions, providing expert HR guidance and support across the full production lifecycle. We work hand‑in‑hand with Heads of Department and production leadership, both on set and behind the scenes, to ensure a seamless and people‑first experience for all crew and talent.
As a Production HR Generalist, you will play a key role in delivering high‑impact HR support to our UK‑based productions and in‑house production companies (Prod‑Cos). You’ll be a trusted advisor to both freelance and staff teams, ensuring compliance, consistency, and care in every interaction. This is a dynamic, hands‑on role that requires a proactive, adaptable, and solutions‑focused HR professional.
What You’ll Do- Production HR Partnership: Serve as a dedicated HR partner to production teams, providing guidance across the full employee lifecycle. Attend production offices and sets regularly to offer in‑person support and build strong relationships with crew and leadership. Act as a point of contact for Prod‑Co employees and freelance contractors, addressing queries and concerns with empathy and efficiency. Deliver and manage “Respect in the Workplace” (RITW) training across productions, ensuring full compliance and accurate attendance tracking. Coordinate and support production‑wide meetings, including kick‑off sessions and HR briefings.
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Manage employee relations matters with discretion and professionalism, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Partner with the Employment Law team to ensure alignment with internal policies and legal standards. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law, union agreements, and industry best practices.
- HR Operations & Systems: Support onboarding, offboarding, and employee changes in HR systems (SAP, myHR), including drafting documentation and ensuring data accuracy. Oversee payroll coordination for Prod‑Co staff, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. Set up and promote access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for productions.
- Strategic Projects & Initiatives: Collaborate with Global Production HR on initiatives that enhance the production employee experience. Contribute to broader HR programs such as performance management, succession planning, and compensation reviews. Lead or support special projects as assigned.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Essential: Proven experience in an HR generalist or business partner role, ideally within media, entertainment, or a fast‑paced creative industry. Strong background in employee relations, including conducting investigations and managing sensitive cases. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, myHR). Willingness and ability to travel regularly to production sites across the UK and occasionally in Europe.
- Preferred: CIPD qualification or equivalent HR training. Experience supporting freelance or contract‑based workforces. Familiarity with union environments and production‑specific HR challenges.
