Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company (\’Versant\’) comprised of most of NBCUniversal\’s cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Overview

CNBC International is seeking a sharp and ambitious European Companies Reporter to cover the biggest corporate stories shaping Europe’s business landscape. Based in London, this reporter will break news, secure exclusives, and deliver authoritative coverage on some of the region’s most important industries and companies — from autos and energy to consumer goods, retail, and industrials.

Responsibilities

  • Report on Europe’s biggest companies and sectors, covering earnings, strategy shifts, leadership changes, and industry trends with clarity and authority.
  • Deliver fast, accurate reporting on major corporate developments, ensuring CNBC is first and best on the stories that move markets and matter to investors.
  • Cultivate deep sources among executives, investors, advisors, and regulators to land agenda-setting corporate scoops.
  • Produce smart analysis, features, and interviews that explain the significance of European corporate developments and contribute to CNBC’s subscription offering.
  • Work closely with TV, digital, and social teams to ensure coverage reaches and engages CNBC’s global audience across platforms.
  • Use analytics and audience insights to guide coverage, prioritizing stories with strong investor and professional appeal.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across EMEA, the U.S., and APAC to deliver cohesive global coverage of multinational companies and industries.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in business or financial journalism, with a track record of covering companies or sectors.
  • Strong news judgment and the ability to identify corporate stories with global relevance.
  • Proven ability to break news and cultivate high-level sources in the corporate and financial world.
  • Excellent writing skills, able to make complex business stories engaging and accessible for a global audience.
  • Familiarity with Europe’s corporate landscape and key industries.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced newsroom and making sharp editorial calls under pressure.
  • Understanding of digital publishing, SEO, and multi-platform storytelling.
