Delivering a full range of entertainment experiences to local audiences across the globe, the unique brands include Universal TV, Sci-Fi, 13th Street, DIVA, Studio Universal, Telemundo, Bravo and DreamWorks.
Overview: A permanent full-time position for a junior/mid-level lawyer in a friendly, collaborative team covering a varied workload. As well as being part of the dynamic International Networks & DTC business in EMEA (covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa), you will be part of an international legal community with access to a wide range of in-house training and development opportunities, events and knowledge-sharing resources.
Responsibilities:
- Advising the Marketing and Creative teams on marketing campaigns, promotions and productions, and drafting agreements to engage creative agencies and competition terms and conditions.
- Negotiating and drafting of agreements for the distribution of NBCU‘s portfolio of entertainment and news channels, direct-to-consumer offerings and brands across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
- Negotiating and drafting of content acquisition, advertising and sponsorship agreements.
- Advising the Technical Operations team and assisting with drafting technical services agreements and statements of work.
- Supporting a senior lawyer in advising the IMD business representing third-party foreign language channels for distribution into the US.
- Advising the business on compliance matters, as well as keeping up to date with key legislative and regulatory developments in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, including on copyright, AI and advertising.
- Working closely with NBCU’s specialist IP, Litigation, Privacy and Employment lawyers where needed.
Qualifications:
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Qualified to practise law in the UK preferred (other jurisdictions considered) with 0-4 years’ post-qualification experience or equivalent.
- Commercial, IP or transactional corporate experience, either in private practice or in-house, is desirable, but candidates who can demonstrate solid negotiation/drafting experience and an ability to pick up new areas of law quickly will also be considered favourably.
- Able to demonstrate an interest in the media industry and legal issues related to it.
