- Design, implement, and manage newsroom-wide training programs across the digital and TV newsroom internationally.
- Facilitate trainings to fit a multi-platform strategy approach and help reporters enable specialism.
- Coordinate and collaborate across the TV and digital teams to understand their training needs.
- Deliver bespoke workshops and upskilling initiatives for journalists, reporters and editors, including writing, reporting, visual storytelling, ethics, verification, digital innovation, and audience engagement.
- Identify training resources for the newsroom to support development
- Assess training needs through surveys, performance reviews, and leadership input to co-create learning paths with managers and employees.
- Track outcomes and effectiveness of training programs and iterate accordingly.
- Collaborate across the newsroom leads to develop training programs specific to broadcast needs.
- Work closely with newsroom leadership to ensure alignment with broader editorial goals.
- Build partnerships with journalism schools, professional bodies, and external trainers where relevant.
Editing activities
- Providing constructive feedback on reporters copy to improve structure, clarity, tone and accuracy.
- Reinforcing newsroom style guide including story quality and headline tone.
- Identify common writing weaknesses across the team and feed that into training sessions.
- Work with reporters on developing strong intros, nut grafs, and takeaways.
