Overview

The Reporter, CNBC Pro will generate compelling news stories and original reporting covering European markets, as well as helping to run our live blog. The ideal candidate will have strong reporting and research skills, mathematics proficiency, a good foundational understanding of markets, and a knack for making complex subjects interesting, pointed and relatable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pitch, report and write digital articles that will become destination reading for people involved in markets and finance, or who wish to gain a greater understanding of the industry.
  • Multi-task in a high-pressure news environment, writing fast and accurate breaking news copy and blog posts.
  • Collate and analyse financial markets data for news stories, features, blog posts and other content on the site.
  • Monitor market moves, on-air guests and analyst notes to ensure our live blog is up to date, and our copy is moving the story forward.
  • Develop contacts across Europe\\\’s markets ecosystem with the aim of produce sourced, original and market-moving copy.
  • Package copy to include graphics, video, charts and appropriate links to better engage readers and compel them to share the story, as well as engage in best SEO practises.
  • Collaborate with TV colleagues and international CNBC bureaus on stories relating to markets, finance, earnings and other topics.
  • Make use of social media and other tools to promote CNBC.com content.

Qualifications

  • A command of financial markets, especially but not limited to stock markets, and an interest in investing and trading.
  • Previous experience as a writer and/or reporter, including the ability to perform and multi-task under pressure.
  • Strongly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and possessing outstanding communication and coordination skills.
  • A proven ability to report and write accurately and clearly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news environment.
  • A clear understanding of CNBC and PRO\\\’s editorial and programming priorities.
  • Experience at a large online content destination, such as a leading online news site or financial publication would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with content management systems desirable.
  • A flexible attitude to working different shifts when required.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Ability to understand and process complex numerical information.
  • Bachelor\\\’s degree or equivalent.
