The VP, Employment Law will provide employment law advice to NBCUniversal’s businesses in the UK, EMEA & APAC predominantly working with the Universal Destinations & Experiences and Corporate businesses. This role will be primarily based out of our London office, with regular travel to Bedford required.
Responsibilities:- Provide expert legal advice to HR, managers (including business leaders) and other internal lawyers, both within and outside the US, regarding the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law issues in the UK, EMEA and APAC.
- Development of employment policies, procedures and processes for both new and established operations, covering large employee populations in positions ranging from entry to executive level.
- Provide thought leadership, training and strategic guidance in respect of the impact of legislative changes on our operations.
- Guide, supervise and support the other employment lawyers in the team.
- Mentor and support lawyers within the wider labour & employment department demonstrating positive leadership to foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture.
- Show initiative to lead and drive the strategic objectives of the department.
- Develop best legal practices and ways of working within the department.
- 10+ years PQE and legal experience counseling clients on the full spectrum of employment legal issues in the UK.
- Experience advising on employment issues in EMEA and APAC is also an asset.
- The ability to work well in a fast-paced, high volume, matrixed in-house environment, demonstrating good business judgment, flexibility and self-confidence.
- Strategic and decisive practitioner; skilled at explaining complex legal issues in a timely, concise, straightforward manner.
- Demonstrated ability to think commercially and creatively; develop strong working relationships; and exercise sound, practical judgment, to assist businesses to manage risk in a constantly changing landscape.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
