This permanent role is in the central Business and Legal Affairs team of the International Studios group. The role includes a full range of business and legal affairs matters related to scripted production and development across the International Studios division.
Responsibilities
- Manage development, production and financing of scripted television productions.
- Formulate, draft, review and negotiate agreements with writers, rights holders, talent, production personnel, locations, facilities, suppliers and access.
- Provide legal and business advice on programme related activities such as clearance, negative checking, rights licensing and general contracting.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations and corporate compliance policies in all territories.
- Assist with production documentation, templates and processes, including issuing and managing per‐show production packs.
- Summarise, track and file development and production commissioning deals across various platforms.
- Support production finance matters, including summaries and closing checklists and managing close.
- Analyse rights documentation and chain of title for International Studios productions.
- Advise on guild and union matters, royalties and residuals.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer or newly qualified lawyer with strong drafting skills.
- Ideally experience in IP/licensing and/or scripted television development and production work.
