Overview

Based in London and reporting to the SVP of Marketing & Publicity, the UPCG Publicity team is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and project management of integrated publicity campaigns across all UPCG and select Focus Features releases globally throughout the entire lifecycle of the release – from pre‑production through production, theatrical, home entertainment, TV/SVOD and beyond.

The team’s purpose is to ensure all campaigns meet strategic objectives and support business priorities, working closely with internal and external partners to deliver holistic marketing campaigns worldwide.

The Publicity Assistant role will underpin the work of the entire team.

This role is trusted to support the rest of the team in the implementation of strategic campaigns across a range of PR initiatives, working in collaboration with local publicity teams and global stakeholders.

The role reports to the Director, Publicity and may include travel and work outside of office hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the strategic planning and day‑to‑day implementation of publicity campaigns, including management of PR agencies and territory liaison.
  • Contribute to brainstorming meetings and help develop campaign strategies and creative ideas.
  • Manage talent interviews: draft schedules, handle interview nominations, collate requests, oversee junket/virtual interviews and perform talent handling where appropriate.
  • Coordinate international festival activities: update the festival bible, submit to festivals, liaise with festival contacts, and nurture relationships.
  • Asset management – maintain stills, video clips, trailers, artwork, etc. across all titles, upload assets onto relevant platforms, and make them available to local territories, agencies and press.
  • Coordinate screenings: book screening rooms, collate RSVPs, cover screenings, and gather reactions where required.
  • Manage logistics for international travel, press junkets, set visits, press trips, premieres and special events (booking cars, flights, hotels, crews, etc.).
  • Collect and report media coverage, update campaign reports, and produce presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Compose and distribute publicity updates and filmmaker reports as needed.
  • Conduct research on a broad range of film, TV and entertainment projects, often covering specialist subjects.
  • Handle administrative duties: raise purchase orders, process invoices, manage credit card expenses and budgets, oversee vendor management, maintain a database, and issue screening links.
  • Manage meetings: prepare agendas, coordinate sessions, take minutes, book rooms, and act as a scheduling liaison on behalf of the publicity team.
  • Monitor industry news, current affairs, media/film trends, competitive landscape and the overall zeitgeist, sharing findings internally.
  • Provide support during out‑of‑hours events such as evening/weekend screenings, set visits and film festivals.

Qualifications

  • Passion for film and entertainment (essential).
  • Previous experience in the industry (desirable).
  • Highly organised with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, identify priorities and meet deadlines (essential).
  • Confident communicator with excellent verbal and written skills and strong attention to detail (essential).
  • Ability to manage up effectively and keep colleagues informed of progress (essential).
  • Motivated, proactive and capable of anticipating needs (essential).
  • Dependable, flexible, and eager to learn and contribute to the wider department (essential).
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, dynamic environments while remaining calm, logical, flexible and professional (essential).
  • Experience at a junior publicist level or as an Account Executive/Senior Account Executive in entertainment publicity or a similar role (desirable).
  • Travel and work outside office hours may be required.
