Department: Profit and Asset Protection
Location: Kingsway Distribution Centre
Hours: 4 on 4 off (rotating 2 days / 2 nights)

Key Duties / Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the security operation during the shift making sure the team are deployed effectively and all posts are covered.
- Brief the team at the start of each shift providing clear communication of all tasks, priorities and relevant updates.
- Monitor task completion throughout the shift making sure all activity is carried out in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Enforce task rotation to support team development and maintain operational awareness across the department.
- Remain active and visible on site, this is not a supervisory role conducted from an office.
- Identify capable officers and delegate administrative tasks to them, making sure all records are completed accurately and in confidence.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with officers, documenting outcomes and any agreed actions.
- Identify and address gaps in individual performance in a timely and constructive manner.
- Support officer development by recognising strengths and providing clear direction where improvement is needed.
- Address first level conduct and performance concerns promptly and fairly at the appropriate level, documenting fairly and appropriately.
- Escalate matters beyond a warning or counselling to the Assistant Security Manager.
- Carry out initial investigations into security incidents, conduct matters and policy breaches, gathering evidence and speaking to relevant parties.
- Complete incident reports accurately and in a timely manner making sure all required information is captured.
- Enforce the site security policy consistently, challenging non-compliance and taking appropriate action.
- Where an investigation has the potential to result in a formal outcome beyond counselling, compile all evidence and hand off to the Assistant Security Manager for progression.
- Maintain the highest confidentiality at all times throughout the investigation process.
- Make sure the site remains safe, secure and compliant throughout the shift, capturing all key information within the shift handover.
- Respond to and manage incidents during the shift, escalating to the Assistant Security Manager or Site Security Manager as appropriate.
- Make sure the team conducting searches, patrols, managing security equipment such as CCTV and access control, in line with the SOPs.
- Report any risks, hazards or concerns promptly and accurately.
- Overseeing management of visitor/contractor/staff processes ensuring all are booked in/out in line with policies/procedures.
- Oversee gatehouse processes ensuring supplier vehicles are booked in/out, and checking all vehicles are security sealed on arrival and departure.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed:
- Proven experience in a security officer role with supervisory experience or a strong readiness to step into supervision.
- Confident, hands on leadership style, comfortable managing a team on the ground.
- Strong people management skills with the ability to have direct and constructive conversations about performance.
- Experience or understanding of first level HR processes including return to works and absence management.
- Ability to carry out thorough, fair and objective investigations and produce clear written records.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to make sure admin is completed to a high standard.
- Professional, calm and decisive.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- SIA Licensing is advantageous however not essential.
- Experience in a distribution, logistics or corporate security environment.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft packages such as emails, excel and word.
