As a Regional Sales Manager, you will report into a Head of Retail and be responsible for overseeing multiple stores within your region. You will be tasked with motivating and managing your area team to provide exceptional customer service, exceed sales targets, and maintain the stores' visual appeal. You will lead and support your stores to deliver the highest possible standards. You will take appropriate action to address underperforming stores and manage them effectively. Furthermore, you will support and challenge your team to achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Manage your Region team in order to maintain customer retention and provide exceptional customer service.
- Ensure that your Area team provide a great customer experience by managing your stores service metrics.
- Seek out and pursue new opportunities for the long-term growth of the business, propose new offerings to meet market needs and encourage a culture of innovation and creativity by creating channels for others to present and share their ideas and celebrate these.
- Drive organisational growth and performance through its people, set challenging goals for others, ensure performance is regularly reviewed, recognise, and reward excellent results and create a culture where underperformance is addressed fairly and objectively.
- Full profit and loss responsibility for the stores within the region, ensuring costs are controlled (including shrink) within agreed ratios and budgets are met.
- Ensure that all key performance indicators (KPIs) for stores are being met.
- Analysing Area performance and developing strategies to drive people/sales metrics.
- Create, understand and interpret financial reports.
- Identifying and developing commercial action plans that drive sales and service.
- Encourage and lead your team in achieving and surpassing their targets.
- Recruit and retain the best Area Sales Managers & Store Management to be accountable for the completion of the induction of new Managers into the business as well as monitoring & encouraging their progress.
- Ensure that training continues to be delivered for the area by working with support functions.
- Motivate, inspire and empower staff to achieve their potential to create a "high performing" team.
- Continue to develop your management team and encourage internal growth by utilizing Head Office Training Academies.
- Ensure presentation across all stores is consistent with the brand/company image.
- Ensure that shops’ health and safety standards are adequately monitored and maintained by conducting regular Health & Safety inspections in store.
- Manage and monitor the area’s payroll budget in line with Area Sales Performance.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed
- Must have previous Area Sales Management Experience of multiple regions with the JD Group.
- Exceptional leadership qualities and experience of managing a large and diverse team.
- Evidence of strong drive to achieve results through others.
- Strong communication skills in a variety of media and audiences.
- Strong Commercial awareness.
- A keen eye for financial results with the ability to analyse and interpret KPIs, identify potential risks to the business and offer solutions to mitigate against these.
- Previous experience of sharing ideas at a senior level that contribute to shaping the strategic plan, leading activity that drives its operational delivery, monitoring and evaluating its performance and taking proactive action when issues arise that jeopardise its success.
- Evidence of adopting and sharing best practice across a regional network to promote continuous improvement and encouraging others to do the same.
- Significant experience of creating and leading high performing teams to include all aspects of recruitment, engagement, performance & talent management.
- Great coaching, mentoring and teambuilding skills that motivates and inspires others to take positive action, deliver great customer experiences and drive performance.
- The ability to build trust and influence others through the development of collaborative working relationships across key functional areas.
- Excellent problem solving, prioritisation and organisational skills.
- IT skills - Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to manage time, organise & prioritise workload.
- Travel will be essential.
