Job Summary : Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites or Navy Lodge property responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties, ensuring program standards are met.
Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services, the same as a Housekeeping Attendant, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, exterior space, and more.
Services include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, cleaning, removal of debris, trash, transporting clean and dirty linen, towels, etc.
Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment in connection with performing duties.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and pass on to Housekeeping Attendants information and instructions received from the supervisor/manager; assist in training new associates; answer questions regarding policy changes and directives; ensure work schedules are adhered to; keep the supervisor apprised of work status, assignments, and problem areas.
- Train and demonstrate proper work methods and procedures for all personnel; ensure the most efficient and economical methods of cleaning and maintaining guest rooms are implemented; ensure required cleaning materials and linen are available; work along with and accomplish work the same as that performed by the associates led.
- Maintain information on housekeeping work performed by room number of occupants, departure and arrival dates, etc.
- Maintain continuity in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
- Greets and welcomes guests upon sight, always maintaining outstanding guest relations.
- Conduct daily inspections of rooms, housekeeping carts, common areas, and laundry facilities; maintain written documentation of these inspections.
- Ensure privacy and security of guests are maintained at all times.
- Be responsible for the security of all items in the storeroom or assigned storage areas; determine and place orders for cleaning supplies, in‑room amenities, and other materials or equipment needed by the housekeeping staff; ensure items are available when required.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained, stored, and accounted for; issue amenities, supplies, and linen to the Housekeeping Attendants; perform a monthly/quarterly inventory as required.
- Handle guest and/or staff suggestions and complaints; resolve problems in a tactful and diplomatic manner; refer difficult or unusual situations to the supervisor for resolution.
- Regularly perform housekeeping services as described above.
- Set up, break down, and clean up the complimentary self‑service breakfast bar; assist with preparing, heating, displaying, and replenishing breakfast items; ensure surrounding area is returned to its original state and free of leftover food by the end of the breakfast hour; obtain required food handling certifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; apply knowledge of blood‑borne pathogens safety measures to determine potential safety concerns related to contaminated linens and personal care items; follow all NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG protocols during daily service activity.
- Perform and inspect laundry operations at the facility.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as required.
- May be called upon to maintain operations during inclement weather and other emergencies for a short period of time in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
- May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment as well as other certification requirements; perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications : No experience required. Preferences: High School graduate or equivalent preferred; 6 months housekeeping experience; Leadership and/or training experience.
Schedule : Full‑Time (35+ hours).
