NAAFI have an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to work as a Canteen manager onboard Royal Navy ships. This opportunity will not only help you to enhance your knowledge and skills but allow you to test your abilities of working in a very unique environment. Responsibilities of the role:
- Lead, develop and train the members of your team to achieve success and enable all employees to deliver excellent Customer Service
- Develop business opportunities to maximise the sales and profit from the outlet alongside the controlling of costs and risks.
- Nurture and expand existing wholesale relationships with the Royal Navy, whilst continuously identifying new opportunities for wholesale customers.
- Continuously strive to achieve and exceed all targets for sales, budget and profit and that all costs and wastage are managed and controlled
- Continuously strive to achieve excellent customer service and support to the ships crew.
- Follow all NAAFI processes and procedures to ensure stock, cash and back-office systems are managed correctly and risks of loss are minimised
- Ensure Health and Safety (H&S) regulations and procedures are followed by all team members and that the relevant H&S documentation is completed within established timescales
- Encourage a culture of learning and development so all staff can fulfil their potential and NAAFI has a strong succession plan
- Liaise and collaborate with the Shoreside Team continuously to ensure smooth running of the ship.
- To undertake any reasonable request within the scope and grade of the role and to carry out other duties as reasonably requested by NAAFI for the needs of the business to enable delivery of service, including taking part in activities in the wider operational part of the business as and when required
Requirements of the role:
- 2 years demonstrable experience of working as a manager within the retail and hospitality sectors.
- You will possess excellent customer service skills
- Ability to show resilience under pressure
- You will be self-reliant and able to use your own drive and initiative to resolve problems
- Must pass an ENG 1 Medical, a Sea Survival course and the relevant security clearance
- The successful applicant must be prepared to spend a significant amount of time away from home and must consider if this fits in with their personal circumstances
