If you are a catering assistant or hospitality assistant who wants somewhere to settle in, get properly good at the job and be recognised for it, this is a job worth having. Monday to Friday, daytime hours, with a corporate caterer looking after a global trading firm in EC2, two minutes from Liverpool Street. Your evenings are yours, your weekends are yours, and you will always know your shifts in advance.
The role involves being the face of the staff restaurant counter and the coffee points for an office of people who work long days and genuinely look forward to their lunch. You will be front of house on the servery and hot counter, on the espresso machine through the day, serving on the counter, keeping the confectionery and grab and go looking full and tempting, and taking real care of the coffee machines. Cleaning, descaling and dialling in so every flat white is a good one. Staying ahead on milk, cups and stock so nobody ever has to ask. Resetting between services so the space looks as sharp at 3pm as it did at 8am. The team is small and settled, so you will be trusted to run your section your way. Spot the empty tray or the queue building, sort it, and you will fit in here from day one.
What's on offer:
- £15.85 per hour, 40 hours a week, around £32,968 a year, paid for every hour you work.
- Shifts are 6:00 to 14:30, 7:00 to 15:30 or 9:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, with the pattern rotating so the early starts and later finishes are shared fairly across the team.
- Proper hands-on training from people who know the site.
- Barista training and personal development, with progression when you want it.
- Life assurance scheme.
- Holiday purchase scheme, so you can buy extra days.
- Employee assistance programme.
- High street discount vouchers.
- Social events, quiz nights and a Christmas party people actually turn up to.
This is a close-knit team that has worked together a while and likes it that way. They look out for each other and take pride in the site. The client would rather wait for the right person than fill a gap quickly, which tells you how much they value the people here. There are sites across London if you want to step up to team leader or supervisor in time, and equally, if you want to stay and be brilliant at this job for years, that is exactly what everyone is hoping for.
What we're looking for:
- At least a year in a busy hospitality, catering or food service environment.
- Experience in contract catering, staff restaurants, coffee shops, high volume cafes, hotel breakfast and barista roles.
- Time on a counter or servery, or behind an espresso machine.
You will do well here if you:
- Take ownership of your section and enjoy running it well.
- Notice the small details, because that is what makes this job.
- Slot easily into an established team.
- Stay warm and genuine with the same faces every day.
- Know your food safety level 2, allergens and health and safety properly.
- Take pride in being reliable and looking the part.
If a busy, well-run site, a team you will actually like, solid pay and your evenings back sound like the right move.
