As an External Academic Board Member, you will play a vital role in providing independent oversight and strategic challenge to our governance processes. You will attend key meetings, scrutinise documentation, and offer expert advice on quality assurance, academic standards, and regulatory compliance to ensure continuous enhancement of our programmes and student experience.
Hours of Work: part time
Responsibilities
- Attend three Academic Board meetings annually
- Provide constructive academic scrutiny
- Review relevant documentation
- Advise on quality assurance and regulatory expectations
- Offer external insights on risk and enhancement
- Produce an annual report with observations, risks, and recommendations
Qualifications
- Senior experience within UK higher education, including academic leadership or quality assurance roles
- Strong understanding of academic standards, assessment processes, and student-centered learning principles
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and insightful reports
- Ability to think independently and provide constructive challenge confidently
- Experience in international education, partnership provision, or OfS regulatory compliance (desirable but not essential)
