Yacht Loadmaster – Permanent – UK with worldwide travel
The Loadmasters are instrumental in the loading and discharging of cargo across the globe. They are at the forefront of operations dealing with operators and stevedores worldwide, they have the experience and the knowledge to know when a safe loading is possible.
Responsibilities
- To adhere, follow and apply Company SOP’s for boat loading operations
- Understanding the Health and Safety implications involved with boat loading operations and assess any risks, adapting and ensuring safe practice.
- To provide advice and guidance on board or at a terminal supervising the safe and effective lifting and cradling of all types of marine cargo booked with P&M
- Liaison with all involved parties during operations, including Operation Management team, Tech Team, Surveyors, Dive teams, Welding teams, Stevedores, 3rd Party contractors (Cover teams) Ships Masters, Ships Officers and crew, Clients and Agents. Providing timely, accurate and informative briefs and tool box talks as SME.
- Able to command respect and attention of all parties involved in operations to give confidence to others in relation to being able to manage the operation safely and with full control.
- Supervision of all working teams, employees and 3rd party contractors on site or off site at any other local working area (Port/ Marina). Providing a duty of care.
- Carry out the periodic, and on demand, inspection of Portable appliance, ladders, lifting equipment and cradling assets, recording the results reporting to the Tech Team
- Carry out very basic repair and maintenance of Lifting gear and Cradling assets in any storage area other than the Eastleigh Yard.
- Ensure cradle assets are prepared, maintained and fit for purpose, in a timely manner. Subject to timely notification.
- Ensure cradle assets are adequately stored or packed away after discharge from vessel.
- Ensure that Lifting gear is adequately stored or packed away after use, correctly quantifying all parts, reporting all damage to Tech Team.
- Receipt and dispatch of cradling and Lifting gear assets, logging all movements, carrying out Stock checks when required whether ashore or on board and reporting to Tech team when requested.
- Responsible for the safe storage of all equipment assets, along with the segregation of Out of Date lifting equipment awaiting Thorough Examination.
- Preparation of the equipment list package for Liner and Part Charter operations worldwide, including cradle preparation and build on local loadings.
- Take responsibility for ensuring all personnel on site are correctly supervised with the relevant briefings to assist in operations.
Requirements
- Physically capable to work in arduous conditions and environments, often as a lone worker.
- Fork Lift License – Industrial Forklifts ranging from 2000kg to 12000 kg SWL
- Banksman Slinger
- Relevant courses/ Training to support operations including but not limited to: Working at Height, Safe use of Ladders, Portable Appliance Use, Manual Handling, Lifting gear (Pre use and Safe use)
