Training Centre Instructor (LNG) – Permanent – Glasgow – Competitive package
This is an excellent opportunity to join the inhouse training centre of one of the worlds largest independent LNG ship owners.
The key function of this role is the management and delivery of all training courses at the Training Centre in Glasgow.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide instruction on mandatory and non-mandatory courses ranging from operational level up to management level for ships officers serving in (or intending to serve in) the company’s gas tankers using both classroom and simulator environments
• Develop training programs as required by the Training Centre Manager to align with STCW, IMO model courses
• Carry out student assessment within the courses in order to: Monitor student learning, Check the effectiveness of instruction & Verify competence being assessed for the current role or intended role
• Assist in preparing and submitting course materials to accrediting authorities
• Actively monitor course content to ensure that all courses remain aligned with the latest regulations and reflect the needs of the course delegates to support their professional needs and to improve overall quality
• Participate in recruitment and promotion interviews
Experience Required:
• Class 1 Certificate of Competency (STCW II/2 Deck) and Tanker endorsement (Liquefied Gas)
• Have a good command of English language
• Be prepared to gain instructor or teaching qualifications as required
• Have significant experience at management level (Master, Chief Officer) on board gas tankers, preferably including LNG
• Has successfully completed a simulator-based management level course accredited as meeting the SIGTTO Suggested Competency Standard for Officers serving on LNG vessels (desirable)
Preference is for candidates to have the the right to work in the UK but the role is now also open to candidates who require sponsorship. There is a competitive base salary, bonus & benefits package on offer.
