I am looking for a Master to join a high-speed vessel with a river bus service on the River Thames in London.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the vessel
  • To carry out good Ship Management duties
  • To ensure the vessel is operated to the highest possible standards
  • To inform the company of any defects in the vessel's safety equipment
  • To maintain the vessel in compliance with all relevant legislation

Main Activities:

  • Compliance with the onboard Safety Management Systems and the conditions of the MCA Passenger Certificate, ensuring the vessel's safety equipment is adhered to and company operating procedures are followed
  • To ensure that the crew are trained to a high level in the provision of safety to passengers and themselves
  • To have received familiarisation training specified below prior to holding the rank of Master and to maintain knowledge of the Safety Management Systems and ISM at all times whilst serving as Master
  • To manage the Mates and DCSAs on board the vessel
  • Responsible for all crew and passengers on board the vessel
  • To deliver on board training and development to new Class V Masters as directed
  • To be prepared to carry out any other duty within the Operations department according to operational needs
  • Assist in developing and maintaining effective teamwork within departments and offices of the company
  • Provide and promote the highest level of customer service
  • Continuously seek ways to improve personal, team and business performance
  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices as required by current legislation and the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and practices
  • Ensure that all relevant information is communicated speedily and accurately in a way that ensures that the information is received and easily understood
  • Ensure that all materials and resources are effectively and efficiently utilised to minimise waste and reduce costs
  • Undertake any other relevant duties or reasonable requests as requested by any company Managers and any member of the senior management team
  • Understand the importance of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace

Requirements:

  • MCA Boat Master’s Licence, Tier one Level Two
  • Current ML5 Medical or ENG1
  • Sea Survival
  • MCA Local knowledge endorsement
  • Positive with a “can do” attitude
  • Team player who enjoys working in a high achieving environment
  • A commitment to delivering the best
  • You must also have close quarter experience as there will be regular berthing of the vessel.
  • Applicants must have an existing right to live and work in the UK. You must also live within a commutable distance to London.
