Permanent - Homebased UK - Competitive salary plus benefits

Due to continued expansion, we are looking for a Technical Officer to join a reputable Marine Surveying business. The role is either homebased (anywhere in UK) or from the office in Cardiff.

The Technical Assistant role will offer day-to-day support to the Marine technical department, ensuring the efficient and high-quality delivery of technical inspection reports to the customer base. Assisting primarily with the interpretation, correction and adjustment of all technical reports and supporting data is a key function of the technical team and the Technical Support role will contribute effectively to this overall process, in order to ensure quality standards are always maintained. The role has future potential for development towards a more hands-on technical role, potentially within a surveying-discipline in due course, aligned with the Company's growth expectations.

Experience required:

  • Some sea going experience as a Marine Engineer (preferred) or Deck Officer
  • Ideally sailed up to the rank of 3rd engineer or 3rd Officer on merchant ships
  • Hold EOOW or OOW license or higher (Chief Mate or 2nd Engineer license preferred)
  • Marine related degree (Preferred)
  • Self-motivated, well organised and able to work without direct supervision
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English (written & verbal)
