We have a part time domesticsupport worker post (band 2)

20 hrs working 5 out of 7 on a pro rota withinour tukes/navigo domestics team, working across all our navigo sites

Please note; the expected start date for this position is not before 07/4/2026.

Main duties of the job

The Domestic support worker will be expected to work as part of adomestic team in achieving and maintaining high infection control standards inall inpatient facilities. These results are instrumental to the role andcontribute to CQC standards.

The Band 2 Domestic support Worker will ensure daily communicationbetween the team is recorded, cleaning cupboards kept clean and well maintainedand any minor problems dealt with in a timely manner.

Domestic Support Workers be responsible for ensuring sites are ofhospital standard, recording and reporting issues to the Domestic team Supervisor.

There may be occasions when it is necessary to assist in the smoothoperation of the laundry function (training will be required for this) thisincludes the laundering and ironing of all non-personal items associated withthe inpatient facilities, and other items requested.

It is essential that the post holder is flexiblein both hours and travel as there will be occasions when you will be requiredto work on different sites for the needs of the business, including NAViGOHouse and Gardiner Hill caravan.

Underthe guidance of the Domestic team supervisor you will be responsible forensuring Health and Safety at Work Act and COSHH regulations and meetsthe standard of cleaning set with in NAViGO.

Play a significant role in Tukes members supportprogramme ensuring they are adequately supported and are in receipt of thecorrect level training to meet their individual development needs.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will undertakea wide range of duties in relation to domestic services on both acute andcommunity sites within various NAViGO locations operated by TUKES. Itwill also be the post holders responsibility to ensure that any additionalrequests from the sites are dealt with efficiently and effectively wheneverpossible. Some of the sites providedirect patient services, and it is therefore essential you conduct yourself ina friendly, efficient and approachable manner.

They will play anessential part in Tukes Domestic Service team, and together the team are thefirst point of contact for Staff and Managers to ensure standards andexpectations of Navigo are always maintained.

The Domestic SupportWorker will be expected to attend and meet Navigo mandatory training standards andany other training as required.

The post holdershould be confident in dealing with minor problems on the site should theyarise, reporting any issues which may escalate to the Domestic Team Supervisor.

This is oneof many key services we deliver, you will be expected to work professionally aspart of the bigger team which is NAViGO. Together you will be contributingtowards an efficient and high standard of cleaning to the acute sites of NAViGO to ensure CQC standards are met by focussing on the direct needs ofour staff, service users and visitors.

You will provide support for meaningful occupationof time and work placement training to assist in the development of our serviceusers, with the guidance of Tukes navigation Support Workers and peer support promotingthe provision of a reliable, high quality, flexible, proactive trainingprovider for our members suitable to their needs.

The role is instrumental to thesuccess of the whole of the TUKES team to ensure that the ethos of TUKES canreach its full potential as part of a bigger picture. Domestic support workers,catering services, Vocational training, employability services and One FrontDoor Tukes Support will together work to provide the support our service usersrequire enriching their experience of working within TUKES.

Qualifications

  • General education
  • General IT experience
  • First Aid trained or willing to work towards if required by area of service
  • Respect trained or willing to work towards
  • COSHH Knowledge

Experience

  • Domestic Experience
  • Working Knowledge Ordering and Stock Control
  • Working within a hospital/mental health environment
  • Team Leading qualification or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of healthcare facilities
