We are looking for an experienced paraplanner to take ownership of advice quality and the structure of our suitability reports. You will work closely with advisers and administrators to turn recommendations into clear, compliant client outcomes, and you will help improve how advice is built and delivered as the firm grows.

We are an established independent financial planning firm supporting approximately 500 families. As we continue to grow, we are strengthening how advice is built and delivered, with a focus on clarity, consistency, quality and efficiency. This role has been created to bring greater ownership, structure and consistency to our advice process.

This is a hands-on paraplanning role with genuine ownership. You will shape and improve the quality, clarity and consistency of suitability reports, and you will support advisers in turning recommendations into clear, suitable and compliant outcomes for clients. You will work closely with advisers and administrators throughout the advice journey—reviewing recommendations, sense-checking suitability, and ensuring the final report is client-friendly and robust. We use AI tools to support drafting and summarisation. Your value is your judgement, attention to detail and ownership of the final output.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Own the structure, clarity and quality of suitability reports, ensuring they meet FCA expectations and our internal standards.
  • Review adviser recommendations and supporting information; challenge constructively where detail, rationale or consistency is missing.
  • Draft and refine client-facing content, using AI tools appropriately to support first drafts and summaries.
  • Carry out product and provider research across pensions and investments; document findings and rationale clearly.
  • Act as the main paraplanning point of contact for advisers and administrators, helping to keep cases moving efficiently.
  • Identify gaps, recurring issues and process inefficiencies; propose improvements and help implement better ways of working.

This role sits at the heart of advice delivery, not at the end of it.

Key Relationships

  • Financial Advisers – shaping recommendations into clear, suitable and compliant advice.
  • Administrators – coordinating information gathering, provider requirements and case progression.
  • Compliance / Management – maintaining advice quality, consistency and good outcomes.

Who This Role Is Well Suited To

This role suits someone who takes ownership rather than waiting for instruction, is comfortable using judgement, enjoys improving how things work, and wants to be closely involved in advice outcomes.

Experience & Background

We are open on background, but strong on mindset. Essential:

  • Experience in a UK IFA / financial planning environment.
  • Solid understanding of FCA suitability expectations and confidence producing or shaping suitability reports.
  • Working knowledge across pensions and investments.
  • High attention to detail, strong written communication, and the confidence to challenge constructively.
  • Level 4 Diploma qualified, or close to completion.

Desirable:

  • Two or more years’ paraplanning experience.
  • Experience improving templates, workflows or quality assurance for advice documentation.
  • Comfort using technology (including AI tools) to improve efficiency while maintaining quality and compliance.

We are less concerned with job titles or years served and more interested in capability, initiative and attitude.

Working Arrangement & Package

  • Salary: £45,000 (subject to experience)
  • Exam support and CPD
  • Office-based role in Belfast
  • Opportunity to shape and grow the role as the firm evolves

This Role Is for You If…

  • You want a senior paraplanning role with ownership and accountability for advice quality.
  • You enjoy working closely with advisers, challenging constructively, and improving the end client outcome.
  • You like improving templates, workflows and ways of working—not just producing documents.

In Summary

This is a role for someone who wants to be involved, trusted and relied upon — and who is motivated by making advice better, clearer and easier to deliver.
