Overview
In this senior role, you will lead a multidisciplinary design function for major water and wastewater projects, overseeing the end-to-end design process. You will manage civil and MEICA disciplines, ensuring technically robust, compliant designs delivered to standards. You engage directly with clients and drive complex design requirements, shaping project outcomes and team performance. This position offers impact across project lifecycles and opportunities to influence business development within a water-focused team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the multidisciplinary design function for water and wastewater projects
- Own the end-to-end design process and ensure technical robustness and compliance
- Manage a civil and MEICA design team across interfaces
- Review, approve and sign off designs with authority
- Deliver designs through full project lifecycle and maintain client-facing communication
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to address complex design requirements
- Contribute to business development efforts within the water sector
- Ensure designs meet required standards and performance targets
Key requirements
- 20+ years of experience in the water sector
- Chartered status with a relevant professional institution
- Strong wastewater experience; clean water experience considered
- Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams
- Strong civil engineering design experience; knowledge of MEICA and multidisciplinary interfaces
- Experience taking designs through the full project lifecycle
- Authority to review, approve and sign off designs
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
