Overview
In this role you will lead health and safety across major infrastructure projects, providing guidance to operational teams and collaborating with directors, site teams, clients and subcontractors. You will run inspections, audits and investigations, drive safety improvements and oversee H&S reporting and plans. You’ll shape safety culture on site and support project management to meet statutory and project requirements. This is a senior position in a major tunnelling/infrastructure environment with a strong focus on sustainability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Lead health, safety and sustainability best practices across projects
- Advise directors, managers and supervisors on H&S responsibilities
- Maintain client relationships and drive collaboration on safety
- Lead improvement projects and initiatives
- Ensure effective management controls and compliance
- Support site management with H&S compliance
- Lead junior H&S Advisors when required
- Conduct site inspections, surveillance and audits
- Follow up actions from inspections and audits
- Lead accident and incident investigations
- Analyze H&S data to identify trends and improvements
- Deliver lessons learned sessions, campaigns, and improvement plans
- Support project inductions and H&S plan/procedure development
- Maintain H&S records, prepare reports and presentations
- Monitor project KPIs and halt work if safety is in question
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in health and safety roles
- Experience in tunnelling preferred
- Senior-level H&S membership or qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, IEMA or CQI)
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
