Company Information: A fast-paced principal engineering-led global infrastructure group well positioned in the fields of high-tech, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure are looking to hire a Lead Buyer to join their office in Swindon.
As Lead Buyer you will be responsible for:
- The procurement of materials, services and subcontract processes by commercial teams, within a project, or section of a project.
- Managing relationships with key Supply Chain Partners and manage Categories of Materials or Services as directed by the Supply Chain Manager.
- Supporting Work Winning in selection, evaluation and invitation to tender of Subcontractors and Suppliers for bids.
Lead Buyer Accountabilities:
- Obtain best value from suppliers of materials, services and consumables goods in support of the Project Teams.
- Assist Project Teams to develop the Project Procurement Strategy, from the output of the Tender package Strategy.
- To plan, place, and progress orders for materials, services and consumable goods with suppliers, while monitoring cost, quality and delivery performance.
- Issue of Subcontract, Material and Service enquiries on behalf of Work Winning, throughout the bid phase of any Client tender.
- Manage the enquiry schedule on behalf of Work Winning, until tender settlement.
- To assist in the development and maintenance of the Company's Procurement Strategy and Procurement Business Plan.
- To develop and manage the supplier base to ensure it can meet the current and future objectives of the Company.
Lead Buyer candidate specification:
- At least 2 years' experience operating as a Senior Buyer.
- Have hands-on practical experience working on an active Construction or Civil Engineering site (understands site processes etc).
- Experience of being a procurement lead on an active project.
- Experience of leading a small team.
- Previous experience of working on NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
- HNC/HND in either Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Business and Supply Management.
- Ideally a Level 4 diploma with CIPS.
Salary / Benefits: Between £65,000 - £75,000 per annum depending on level of experience, plus car / allowance of £5,750 and package.
