A multidisciplinary sustainability consultancy delivering energy modelling, compliance, and building performance strategies across commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects is looking to hire an Energy Modelling Specialist with strong technical capability in IES VE and a proven track record of delivering real project outputs (not just exposure). Based from the client's office in Cobham with hybrid working 2 days a week, the role will support BREEAM/NABERS Assessments, EPC Compliance and wider building performance analysis within commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Dynamic thermal modelling (DSM)
  • TM52 overheating assessments
  • TM54 operational energy modelling
  • Non-domestic EPCs and BRUKL reports
  • Passive design analysis
  • Part L compliance modelling
  • Support Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) feasibility studies
  • Contributing to BREEAM energy credits, including:
    • ENE 01 (energy performance, whole building and component)
    • ENE 04 (LZC technologies and passive design)
    • HEA01 (Daylighting)
  • Interpreting results and producing clear, client-facing technical reports
  • Coordinating with design teams to inform design decisions
  • Working independently across multiple projects and deadlines

Essential Requirements for this Energy Modelling Specialist role:

  • Strong hands-on experience using IES VE (ApacheSim essential)
  • Demonstrable experience delivering TM52 overheating analysis, TM54 energy modelling, EPCs for non-domestic buildings
  • Solid understanding of UK Building Regulations Part L, Dynamic simulation modelling principles (e.g. CIBSE AM11), BREEAM RFO and New Construction
  • Proven experience supporting BREEAM energy credits (ENE 01 minimum)
  • Ability to produce high-quality, technically accurate reports independently
  • Strong communication skills - able to explain modelling outputs to non-technical stakeholders
  • Degree (2:1 or above preferred) in a relevant discipline
  • Detail-oriented and technically rigorous
  • Comfortable working in a consultancy environment with multiple deadlines and integrates well with the rest of the team
  • Proactive and able to manage workload independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical approach to modelling
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight and deliver on programme
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car

Critical Requirements that applicants must be able to provide at interview:

  • Examples of completed IES VE models and reports (e.g. TM52, EPC, BRUKL)
  • Clear explanation of their specific role in delivering those outputs
  • Demonstrated involvement in BREEAM energy credits (not just awareness)

Desirable experience:

  • Experience with NABERS UK assessments
  • Experience working on commercial fit-out / CAT A
