About the Role

As a Power Systems Engineer you will join a dedicated power systems team, working on diverse projects from LV networks through to 132kV distribution. You will carry out modelling and analysis, liaise with DNOs, develop technical specifications and reports, and provide specialist advice across a wide range of energy projects, including renewables and embedded generation schemes.

The key requirements for this role are:

  • Network design and modelling from LV up to 132kV
  • Load flow, fault level and protection studies
  • Harmonic analysis and compliance studies (ENA ER G5/4)
  • Arc flash assessments, voltage stability and insulation coordination studies
  • Substation and cable network design, including earthing systems
  • Generation scheme design, including standby power, wind and solar PV integration
  • Site surveys, inspections and contractor liaison during project execution and commissioning
  • Preparation of specifications, drawings and technical reports

Experience required for this role includes:

  • Degree in Power Systems Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in an electrical engineering consultancy or power systems environment
  • Proficiency with ETAP (or similar software such as IPSA+, ERACS, PowerFactory, Amtech HV)
  • Strong report writing and technical communication skills
  • Willingness to attend site and client meetings
  • Desire to continue developing new and existing skills

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience include:

  • Familiarity with Revit software
  • Knowledge of DNO compliance processes for embedded generation schemes
