About the Role

The Sub Agent will work in a project environment, coordinating construction activities and closely collaborating with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, client representatives, and designers. The Sub Agent will lead the construction team in the assigned area of responsibility, overseeing the execution of work in accordance with project requirements, schedule, and commercial needs. The role will involve managing subcontractors, coordinating with other areas of the project, monitoring progress and resources, and managing junior team members. You will also be responsible for ensuring the required documentation, temporary works, quality records, and project controls are in place before and during the execution of construction works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the construction team in the assigned area
  • Managing work in accordance with project requirements, schedule, and commercial needs
  • Coordinating activities with other areas of the project
  • Managing and supporting junior staff
  • Reviewing equipment, labour, and material usage against planned needs
  • Identifying resource deviations and developing action plans
  • Managing subcontractors and leading regular meetings with subcontractors
  • Maintaining detailed knowledge of subcontractor scope and progress on site
  • Assessing payment applications and changes from subcontractors in collaboration with the commercial team
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Managing work in accordance with project specifications
  • Developing and maintaining a minimum three-month lookahead schedule
  • Monitoring progress against the schedule and identifying deviations
  • Developing recovery plans in case of schedule delays
  • Preparing schedule updates and forecasts for reporting periods
  • Ensuring preparation and approval of temporary works documentation before work commences
  • Monitoring temporary works during execution and dismantling
  • Reviewing and approving relevant quality documentation
  • Ensuring approval and currency of project documentation
  • Maintaining records and documentation of the project
  • Inputting required records into project document control systems
  • Collaborating with clients, designers, and third-party representatives
  • Providing information for project reporting

Required Experience

  • Experience working in the civil engineering and construction industry
  • Experience leading construction teams in the area of responsibility
  • Experience managing subcontractors
  • Experience managing construction schedules and lookahead schedules
  • Understanding of commercial and contractual requirements
  • Experience monitoring labour, equipment, and material usage
  • Understanding of temporary works requirements
  • Understanding of project quality documentation
  • Understanding of contractor obligations under CDM regulations
  • CSCS Management Card
  • Ability to use company project systems
  • Understanding of contractual and company procedures

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience working on large infrastructure projects
