Salary: £35,200 - £45,100 dependent on experience plus:

Summary: A specialist environmental consultancy supporting UK public and private organisations throughout planning and development is seeking to hire an experienced Peatland Hydrology Consultant with direct project experience undertaking peatland surveys, authoring Peat Management Plans, undertaking peatland restoration feasibility studies, and contributing to Hydrology, Hydrogeology and Soils EIAR chapters. This role will be divided between site work and office work and therefore will require the suitable candidate to be comfortable undertaking surveys in rural Scotland to the highest health and safety standards.

What You'll Do:

  • Independently scope, prepare and undertake site visits to collate peatland hydrology data, upholding the highest health and safety standards at all times.
  • Lead on the production of Peat Management Plans, feasibility studies, restoration designs, PWS, GWDTE and PLHRA assessments, and Hydrology, Hydrogeology and Soils EIAR chapters.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of the relevant policy, legislation and best practice, including Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION framework.
  • Undertake consultation with key stakeholders including EA and SEPA.
  • Work collaboratively with the flood risk, drainage, ecology, construction and aquatics specialists within Gavia to provide coordinated deliverables to our clients.
  • Support with the production of bids, proposals and tenders.

Seeking someone with:

  • Experience, knowledge and passion for peatland hydrology.
  • 3-5+ years industry experience within peatland hydrology.
  • A degree within a relevant environmental subject.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, working towards achieving full chartered status.
  • A sound knowledge of Peatland Code and Peatland ACTION framework.
  • Prior experience undertaking peatland surveys.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
