A growing house builder is looking for a Senior Engineer to support the Technical team across feasibility, design coordination, infrastructure delivery and adoption processes. This role suits someone with strong technical and engineering knowledge who enjoys working across multiple stages of residential development, while also taking on additional responsibility within the team.
You will provide technical input during land assessments, coordinate engineering details with consultants and statutory bodies, support planning and approvals, and assist with the delivery of site infrastructure. The role also involves mentoring junior team members and providing ongoing engineering support to construction teams. Key Responsibilities of the Senior Engineer:- Support land and development teams during feasibility studies, contributing engineering input and preparing viability information
- Appoint and manage external engineering, utilities and technical consultants, agreeing scope, fees and programme requirements
- Coordinate engineering design information and ensure timely flow of data in line with programme deadlines and standards
- Assist in planning processes by identifying technical risks, supporting conditions discharge and reviewing regulatory requirements
- Provide technical guidance on highways, drainage, sewers, utilities and ground strategies, ensuring commercial and regulatory requirements are met
- Support the preparation of tender documentation and assist in setting up management companies where applicable
- Manage the progression of roads, sewers and utilities through to adoption with local authorities and statutory providers
- Attend site regularly, offering engineering support and leading technical discussions related to infrastructure delivery
- Interact with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and warranty provider requirements
- Mentor and support junior members of the engineering team
- Degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Technical Design or related discipline
- Experience within residential housebuilding or civil engineering roles, ideally at Engineer or Senior Engineer level
- Strong knowledge of highways, drainage, utilities, groundworks and relevant design standards (e.g. Sewers for Adoption, Building Regs, British Standards)
- Working proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Commercial awareness and understanding of planning and technical processes
- Knowledge of NHBC/LABC/SBD requirements
