About the Role

As a Senior Quality Engineer you will take responsibility for ensuring the highest quality standards across major energy and grid infrastructure projects. You will act as the key quality lead for your assigned projects, supporting Project Directors and Work Package Managers to maintain compliance, reduce risk, and embed continuous improvement throughout the lifecycle. This is a highly visible role where your technical expertise will directly influence delivery outcomes and customer satisfaction. Creating and maintaining a culture of quality will be the main priority ensuring those around you understand how to do things right first time, every time.

The key requirements for this Senior Quality Engineer role are:

  • Manage and monitor quality assurance and inspection resources across assigned projects
  • Lead the customer interface for all quality-related matters and ensure timely closure of issues
  • Oversee supplier qualification, selection and surveillance processes
  • Support failure prevention, NCR management and root cause analysis across projects
  • Deliver quality awareness training and promote a proactive quality culture across teams
  • Plan and manage day-to-day quality activities including auditing, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support Work Package Managers with documentation, CAPA management and lessons learned
  • Provide effective reporting and governance updates to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Liaise with external regulatory and industry bodies on quality compliance matters

Experience required for this Senior Quality Engineer role are:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior operational quality role, ideally within infrastructure, utilities or energy
  • Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of quality processes and risk management methodologies (FMEA, 8D, CAPA)
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation or multi-disciplinary project environment
  • Proven ability to influence and engage at all levels of a project team
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites as required

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior Quality Engineer role are:

  • Experience in high-voltage, substation, HVDC or renewable energy projects
  • Familiarity with NCR and CAPA systems, supplier audits and external certifications
  • Awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental standards relevant to large infrastructure delivery
