About the Role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing bids, tenders and innovative design solutions for complex ground engineering schemes. Working closely with estimators, bid teams and operational engineers, you’ll ensure each proposal is both commercially competitive and technically robust.
The key requirements for this Senior Design Engineer role are:
- Lead and contribute to technical design on ground engineering tenders and projects
- Review drawings, specifications and client requirements to produce compliant and innovative design solutions
- Support estimating and pre-construction teams to plan and develop accurate technical proposals
- Undertake design risk assessments and ensure compliance with design codes, standards and company procedures
- Present technical proposals to clients, design partners and operational teams
- Check and approve design work completed by other team members
- Provide ongoing support to delivery teams post-award, including site visits and technical reviews
- Keep up to date with new innovations, technologies and market trends within geotechnical and civil design
Experience required for this Senior Design Engineer role are:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within piling or ground engineering design
- Working towards or achieved Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of geotechnical foundations including load-bearing piles and retaining walls
- Knowledge of design software such as WALLAP, OASYS, Repute or Plaxis
- Familiarity with CDM regulations, design risk management and quality assurance processes
- Capable of managing workloads and meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Valid CSCS card
