About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planner to join a growing civil engineering team delivering highways and public realm projects. Reporting into the Senior Planner, this role will be responsible for producing and maintaining construction programmes, monitoring project progress, supporting project teams with planning information and providing detailed programme analysis throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with site operations teams, senior management and subcontractors to ensure programmes accurately reflect project progress, resource requirements and key delivery milestones.

The key responsibilities for this Planner role are:

  • Produce and maintain master construction and civils programmes using Primavera P6
  • Develop procurement programmes to support subcontract package delivery
  • Monitor and record site progress against programme milestones
  • Produce short-term and long-term look-ahead programmes
  • Create sectional and phased programmes to support project delivery
  • Carry out resource loading and cost loading within P6
  • Prepare programme reporting and performance metrics
  • Analyse programme performance, critical path activities and project variances
  • Support compensation event and extension of time programme requirements
  • Produce impact assessments and programme narratives where required
  • Attend site meetings and collaborate with operational teams
  • Liaise with internal departments and project stakeholders to support successful delivery

Experience required for this Planner role are:

  • Previous experience working as a Planner within construction or civil engineering
  • Strong knowledge of highways and public realm projects
  • Proficient user of Primavera P6
  • Experience of resource loading and cost loading within project programmes
  • Ability to understand construction activities and project sequencing
  • Experience monitoring and reporting project progress
  • Previous site-based project experience
  • Understanding of NEC contract principles and programme management
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Planner role are:

  • HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent industry qualification
  • CSCS Card
  • Experience using Power BI for reporting and analysis
  • Knowledge of Powerproject, Microsoft Project or similar planning software
  • Understanding of compensation events and extension of time processes
