I am working with a growing developer seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects. This is a key role within the business, responsible for managing the full design process from feasibility through to project completion across sectors including residential, retail, medical, industrial and mixed use developments. You will act as the central point of contact for all design related matters, ensuring projects are delivered in line with budget, programme, regulatory requirements and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, manage and coordinate the design team throughout all project stages
  • Take ownership of the design process from feasibility, planning and detailed design through to completion
  • Chair design team meetings, manage agendas, track actions and ensure timely delivery of outputs
  • Ensure designs align with project budgets, specifications, statutory regulations and programme constraints
  • Manage design changes and assess their impact on cost, programme and quality
  • Oversee post-contract design development, ensuring quality control and compliance on site
  • Liaise closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors and external stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate design-related risks throughout the project lifecycle
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or similar role within development or construction
  • Strong leadership, coordination and communication skills
  • Proven experience developing and managing design programmes from preconstruction to handover
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (BIM experience advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of the cost and programme implications of design decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
