About the Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will support the delivery of ground investigations, geotechnical assessments and foundation design solutions across a variety of projects. You'll be involved from site investigation review through to detailed design and reporting, working closely with civil and structural engineers to ensure safe and efficient foundation and earthworks solutions. This role offers a good balance of office-based technical work and site exposure, making it well suited to an engineer looking to build their experience across the full project lifecycle.
The key requirements for this Geotechnical Engineer role are:
- Interpret and review ground investigation reports
- Develop ground models and recommend appropriate foundation solutions
- Carry out geotechnical design including shallow and deep foundations
- Provide earthworks and retaining structure design input
- Produce technical reports, calculations and design documentation
- Liaise with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
- Support Junior/Graduate Geotechnical Engineers in their development
- Logging of Soil Samples & Analysing preliminary results
- Attend site visits to assess ground conditions and support construction
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards and design codes
Experience required for this Geotechnical Engineer role are:
- Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- 4-5 Years minimum working experience
- Experience working within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Good understanding of soil mechanics and foundation design principles
- Experience interpreting site investigation and laboratory data
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Eurocodes and UK design standards
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Geotechnical Engineer role are:
- Familiarity with geotechnical design software
- Methodical, Detailed and able to run a project from conception to handover
- Self Starter looking for long term growth in a growing business
- Experience supporting projects through construction stage
- Working towards Chartered status
