Responsibilities of the Principal Civil Design Engineer:
- Leading civil design delivery across water and wastewater projects.
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers within the design team.
- Developing and reviewing civil designs, specifications, calculations, and drawings.
- Ensuring designs meet UK water industry standards and best practice.
- Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, process, and project disciplines.
- Supporting design reviews, value engineering, and risk management.
- Engaging with clients and framework partners.
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement across AMP8 delivery.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience working as a Principal Civil Design Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer within the UK water sector.
- Strong technical background in water and wastewater infrastructure design.
- Experience working within AMP frameworks or major UK water utilities.
- Excellent understanding of UK design standards and methodologies.
- Ability to lead technical design and influence engineering decisions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership.
- Professional membership (e.g. ICE) preferred.
