With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued investment across the South West, they are looking to strengthen their Building Services capability with the appointment of a Mechanical Building Services Engineer.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you will support the delivery of mechanical building services solutions across operational infrastructure and critical facilities within a highly regulated environment. The role will involve supporting refurbishment, infrastructure upgrade and facility improvement projects, with a strong focus on HVAC, mechanical services, plumbing and industrial building systems. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop technical solutions that meet operational, safety and compliance requirements. This role would suit someone with experience in safety-critical sectors such as defence, nuclear, infrastructure, maritime or heavy industrial environments. Due to the nature of the projects, candidates MUST be Sole UK Nationals and eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects
  • Develop technical solutions across HVAC, plumbing and industrial mechanical systems
  • Carry out technical studies, feasibility assessments and site investigations
  • Produce and review engineering drawings, technical reports and design documentation
  • Support projects through the full engineering lifecycle from concept through to commissioning
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and technical governance activities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations and project requirements
  • Support commissioning, testing and ongoing infrastructure improvement activities

Experience Required

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience within highly regulated industries such as defence, nuclear, infrastructure or heavy industrial sectors
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical building services systems
  • Experience supporting design and modification projects within operational facilities
  • Ability to produce and review engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • MUST be a Sole UK National and eligible for Security Clearance

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience within dockyard, marine or MoD environments
  • Knowledge of nuclear or safety-critical infrastructure environments
  • Experience using CAD or BIM software packages
  • Understanding of CIBSE, BS and ISO standards
  • Experience supporting commissioning and asset lifecycle activities
