Salary: Circa £35,000 - £48,000 dependant on level of experience plus package including:

A successful employee owned engineering design consultancy that provides technical services to clients including construction firms, transport agencies, local authorities, engineering consultants and private clients in Glasgow, Scotland and throughout the UK is looking to hire a degree qualified Civil Engineer, ideally with experience of working in a design consultancy, but graduates are also encouraged to apply for this role.

The job will require a motivated individual who is technically and commercially capable as well as a good communicator. Rail experience would be an advantage but is not essential. A large proportion of the role will be working in our civils team, and you should, therefore, have design experience in some or all of the following: slope stability, foundation design, ground anchors, gravity and embedded retaining wall design, design of formwork, working platforms, culvert designs and report writing.

The individual should have a sound technical background and be competent in the use of general MS Office, AutoCAD, Strand 7 or equivalent FE analysis software and Slope/W or equivalent. The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM Regulations.

The Civil Design Engineer should be able to:

  • Undertake concept & detailed design
  • React quickly to emerging requirements
  • Be able to communicate via clear and well-presented drawings
  • Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines
  • Technical review of designs

Qualifications needed for the Civil Design Engineer role:

  • Degree qualified in civil engineering (Ideally BEng/MEng min 2:1), working towards membership of ICE
  • Clean driving licence
