This is a great opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer to join a well-known Tier 1 contractor to manage design consultant activities and deliverables to ensure they are completed in line with the agreed programme and client requirements.

The company operates nationwide throughout the UK and has a number of regional offices. Your role as Design Engineer will involve joining an award-winning business on a major project in the Snowdonia area. Key responsibilities for this Design Engineer role:

  • Manage technical queries process, assigning actions and following up on responses.
  • Manage and communicate all design queries, comments, and information required from design workshops and meetings, keeping records.
  • Raise requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team.
  • Support the Design Manager to ensure all design deliverables are provided timely as per the design programmes.
  • Review design monthly reports and produce monthly reports on the design process and any other design-specific elements.
  • Manage and update the design deliverable schedule.
  • Review all design deliverables and ensure that they are completed to the expected standard.
  • Attend interface meetings with external parties, keeping records of meetings and assigning/following up on actions related to the design.
  • Arrange internal design interface meetings with the construction department.
  • Ensure compliance with design management processes required by the contract.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Manage provision of drawings to the project team - document control.
  • Manage BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works together with the BIM/CAD technician.

Experience required for this Design Engineer role:

  • Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs and can coach others.
  • Substantial construction and design experience.
  • Understanding of the Principal Designer Duties.
  • Exceptional know-how in implementing and promoting Digital Engineering practices in design as well as construction.
  • Heavy civil engineering project experience would be advantageous.
