About the Role

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will take a key role in delivering geotechnical design across a diverse range of projects, with greater exposure and responsibility than typically found in larger, more structured consultancies. You will be involved in both temporary and permanent works design, working closely with senior engineers and directors while having the opportunity to influence project delivery and decision-making. This role would suit someone currently working in a larger consultancy environment who is looking for more variety, autonomy and a clearer route towards chartership and progression.

The key responsibilities for this Senior Geotechnical Engineer role are:

  • Deliver geotechnical design across temporary and permanent works
  • Provide input into civil and structural engineering schemes
  • Review and check design work produced by others
  • Carry out site inspections and geotechnical surveys
  • Prepare technical reports and design documentation
  • Undertake feasibility studies and option assessments
  • Work closely with project teams to deliver schemes to programme
  • Support and mentor junior engineers within the team

Experience required for this Senior Geotechnical Engineer role are:

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • 4-5+ years' experience within a geotechnical consultancy environment
  • Experience delivering design across infrastructure or structural projects
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles
  • Experience producing technical reports and calculations
  • Working towards chartership with ICE or similar

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Senior Geotechnical Engineer role are:

  • Experience working within consultancies such as Atkins, WSP, Jacobs, AECOM or similar
  • Experience across rail, bridges or infrastructure projects
