About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Civils Project Manager to lead the delivery of civil engineering projects from planning through to completion.

You will manage site teams, subcontractors, programmes, commercial performance, health and safety and client relationships, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

The role will suit a Project Manager with strong general civils experience who is comfortable managing projects valued at Β£5m+ and leading teams of engineers, site agents and subcontractors.

The key responsibilities for this Civils Project Manager role are:

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering projects
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to deliver works safely and efficiently
  • Develop and manage project programmes and weekly updates
  • Prepare and review RAMS, Construction Phase Plans and project documentation
  • Manage temporary works requirements where required
  • Monitor project progress, costs, risks and opportunities
  • Manage NEC and JCT contract requirements
  • Support the commercial team with variations, quotations and measurements
  • Develop procurement schedules and manage subcontractor performance
  • Lead client, internal and progress meetings
  • Produce weekly and monthly project reports
  • Maintain accurate site and project records
  • Manage health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
  • Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are completed
  • Manage project handover and H&S file documentation
  • Mentor and develop engineers and site agents

Experience required for this Civils Project Manager role are:

  • Minimum 10 years' civil engineering experience
  • Proven experience delivering civil engineering projects valued at Β£5m+
  • Strong experience managing site teams of 5 or more
  • Experience working with NEC contracts, particularly NEC3/NEC4
  • Good understanding of project programmes and planning software
  • Experience managing subcontractors and supply chains
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
  • Experience producing project reports and commercial information
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject
  • 5-day SMSTS
  • Gold CSCS card or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Civils Project Manager role are:

  • Experience with JCT contracts
  • Temporary Works Coordinator experience
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • ICE or CIOB membership
  • Leadership or management training
  • Experience delivering highways, flood alleviation, public realm, bridge or active travel schemes
