A leading international railway infrastructure contractor and operator, specializing in the design, construction, maintenance, and renewal of railway systems, is looking to hire a Head of Rail Systems to lead the rail systems team in Birmingham, delivering multi-million-pound infrastructure projects across the UK including projects within the Midland Metro Alliance. Based from Birmingham with travel to sites in the UK plus hybrid working.
As the Head of Rail Systems you will:
- Manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight.
- Liaise with Network Rail, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Oversee the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of multi-disciplinary systems including signalling and other rail communications systems on light rail.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, safety regulations, and quality procedures.
- Support tendering, planning, and resource allocation for upcoming projects.
- Identify and mitigate risks across technical, commercial, and operational aspects of projects.
To be suitable for this Head of Rail Systems role you will have:
- Acted within a Senior / Lead role acting as a Head of Rail Systems or equivalent position on Network Rail Infrastructure.
- 10+ years experience working in rail / systems engineering.
- Degree in engineering or technical discipline (e.g., Rail Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (highly desirable).
Salary will be negotiable dependent on experience circa £90,000 - £100,000 plus package including:
