A leading player in the civil engineering and infrastructure sector is currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to work on large railway infrastructure projects across the Wessex region. Reporting into the Senior H&S Manager, the Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for managing the development of a positive health & safety culture focused upon accident prevention and improving the health & safety of all personnel on-site.
Person Specification
- Strong background in Health & Safety in a rail environment.
- Previous experience of working in the rail industry is an essential requirement.
- Experience working on rail buildings / depot works would be desirable.
- Hold a diploma/degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
- CMIOSH (essential).
- Have working knowledge of both rail and civil engineering interfaces and practices.
- Possession of a PTS and CSCS Card.
- Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload.
- Full UK Drivers Licence.
- Desirable: Auditing experience.
Role Information
- Providing professional support and guidance to the businesses to enable the effective management of health & safety in accordance with, and by contributing towards HSQES Policies, Standards, Procedures and Operation licenses.
- Accountability for ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with the company Safety Certificate (including the Principal Contractors Licence and Plant Operators Scheme Licence), IMS system and all underpinning company standards and procedures.
- Representing the client in respect of H&S client interface requirements relevant to contract/project specific issues.
- Ensure all accidents/incidents/close call incidents are correctly reported and are the subject of a suitable and sufficient investigation in accordance with Standards.
- Undertaking Line Manager responsibilities for Health & Safety advisors.
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum plus car/allowance and package.
