An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor, supporting the continued growth of their pre-construction team.
We are looking for an Estimator with a strong understanding of construction processes, tendering and cost management. While previous groundworks experience is highly advantageous, we also welcome applications from Estimators working across other construction and civls sectors who are interested in transitioning into groundworks and civil engineering.
The Role
- Preparing accurate and competitive estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation to establish project requirements.
- Undertaking quantity take-offs and preparing detailed cost breakdowns.
- Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams.
- Supporting tender submissions and attending pre-construction meetings.
- Working closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure successful project handovers.
Requirements
- Previous estimating experience within construction or civil engineering.
- Groundworks experience is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Applications are encouraged from Estimators with backgrounds in general construction, specialist subcontracting or other relevant sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials and associated costs.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and tender documentation.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organisation and negotiation skills.
- A genuine interest in developing a career within groundworks and civil engineering.
